Midterm 2 Study Guide
The midterm will cover the material starting in Chapter 8.3 (Asymptotic Normality) and include all of Chapters 9-11 and 13. Chapter 12 is not included.
The midterm is not cumulative. That being said, you cannot know “nothing” from the previous material as many of the topics that are covered build on previous parts of the course.
My general advice for studying is to (i) study the notes that you have take in class, (ii) study the Course Notes, and (iii) for topics where you still have any doubts, follow the cross-references from the Course Notes to the textbook for an additional reference.
R questions are fair game for the exam though the exam will focus relatively more on topics like asymptotic normality, hypothesis testing, and regressions, among others.
Finally, I have provided some extra questions on the course website. You do not need to turn these in. These questions mainly cover the topics since the previous homework, though there are a couple that are review. They are not meant to be a practice per se, but they are meant to help you study. My recommendation is to study some before you try to answer these questions.
